Family Resource Center

The ICL Family Resource Center (FRC) is a community-based program operated by parents with special needs children. FRC is for parents who have children with emotional and/or behavioral problems, or diagnosed with or are at risk of serious emotional disturbance. The program provides services to Brooklyn families who live in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brownsville, Bushwick, Crown Heights and Williamsburg.
FRC provides 6 services to families:

  • Advocacy for parents, including assistance in care coordination with ACS, family court, school meet­ings and medical/therapy appointments.
  • Linkage to other services in Brooklyn, including ICL's mental health clinics.
  • Clinical consultation and supportive counseling to families.
  • Workshops and other educational services.
  • Respite programs.

Activities include

  • Monthly "Family Nights" for parents and children.
  • Support groups for Single Parents, Spanish- Speaking Parents, and Grandparents.
  • After school programs for young people, starting at age 10.
  • Participation in Girl Scouts of America.

A Youth Advocate assists youth and young adults to obtain mental health and educational services, as well as providing peer-to-peer support.

Join the Girl Scouts of America

The Girl Scouts meet every Friday from 5:00-6:30PM at the Family Resource Center. If you live in East New York and are interested in enrolling your daughter, please contact Sandra Staggers at (877) 425-8133.
